Help us build a better future for people navigating cancer and work.
Work Beyond Cancer was created around a simple belief: no one should have to navigate cancer and the workplace alone.
Two organizations. One purpose.
Work Beyond Cancer is a for-profit social-purpose business providing workplace education, training, consulting, resources, and advisory services to employers, HR professionals, leaders, and organizations.
Work Beyond Cancer Foundation is a federally incorporated Canadian not-for-profit organization being established to expand access to education, resources, peer support, public awareness, and programs for people affected by cancer and their caregivers. The Foundation is in the process of preparing for registered charitable status in Canada.
Together, the two organizations share a common purpose: creating workplaces where people affected by cancer are treated with dignity, compassion, flexibility, and respect.
Employment opportunities
Work with us
Work Beyond Cancer is still in its early stages, and we are not currently advertising active employee positions. As we grow, we expect future opportunities within both Work Beyond Cancer and Work Beyond Cancer Foundation.
Future roles may support areas such as:
- Education and training
- Workplace consulting
- Program development
- Communications and community engagement
- Research and resource development
- Partnerships and fundraising
- Peer and community support
- Administration and operations
- Organizational growth
We are committed to building an employment experience that reflects the principles we promote to other workplaces — where accommodation is understood, flexibility is valued, communication is respectful, roles are clear, and employees are supported as people, not simply as workers.
Future employment opportunities will be posted on this website as the organization grows.

Share your expertise and lived experience
Volunteers will play an important role in helping Work Beyond Cancer Foundation grow and extend its reach. Volunteer opportunities will evolve as our programs are developed. We hope to engage people from different communities, professions, industries, and lived experiences across Ontario and, over time, across Canada.
Founding Board of Directors
Board opportunityWork Beyond Cancer Foundation is seeking Founding Board Members to help build the organization from its earliest stage. This is a governance and leadership role — not an operational position. Founding Directors will help establish the Foundation's governance, strategic direction, priorities, partnerships, and long-term sustainability. We are especially interested in building a Board that reflects the diversity of Ontario, with representation from different regions, communities, sectors, professions, and lived experiences. Previous nonprofit Board experience is welcome but not required.
We are seeking people with experience in:
- Nonprofit governance
- Human resources and workplace accommodation
- Employment and human rights law
- Healthcare and cancer care
- Disability management and return to work
- Finance and accounting
- Fundraising and philanthropy
- Communications and marketing
- Research and academia
- Lived experience of cancer or caregiving
Become a Peer Support Volunteer
In DevelopmentWork Beyond Cancer Foundation intends to develop a peer support program connecting people affected by cancer with trained volunteers who have relevant lived experience. Peer support is not counselling, legal advice, or medical advice — it is about connection. It is having someone who can say: 'I understand. I've been there too.'
We are seeking people with experience in:
- Cancer diagnosis and treatment
- Continuing to work during treatment
- Taking medical leave
- Requesting workplace accommodations
- Returning to work after cancer
- Navigating career changes following cancer
- Survivorship and long-term treatment effects
- Supporting a loved one with cancer while working
An organization built around the values we promote.
Work Beyond Cancer is new, which means we have an opportunity to intentionally build the kind of organization and workplace culture we believe should exist.
Compassion
We recognize that people bring their whole lives to work. Health challenges, caregiving responsibilities, grief, recovery, and uncertainty deserve understanding and humanity.
Respect
Every person deserves to be treated with dignity. Different perspectives, experiences, abilities, backgrounds, and ways of working make organizations stronger.
Trust
We believe strong organizations are built when people are trusted to contribute, communicate openly, and perform their roles without unnecessary barriers.
Flexibility
There is rarely one right way to work. We want to embrace flexibility wherever possible and recognize that health, life, and work sometimes need to coexist differently.
Inclusion and Accessibility
We are committed to creating an environment where people can participate meaningfully and where accessibility and accommodation are built into how we operate.
Psychological Safety
People should be able to raise concerns, ask questions, request support, and contribute ideas without fear of embarrassment, retaliation, or exclusion.
Collaboration
We want people to work with one another — not around one another. Clear roles, healthy communication, shared accountability, and mutual respect will be important parts of our culture.
Lived Experience
We value professional expertise, but we also recognize the extraordinary value of lived experience. People who have experienced cancer, caregiving, disability, workplace accommodation, medical leave, and return to work bring perspectives that cannot be learned from a textbook.
Courage
Building something new requires the willingness to speak up, take principled stands, and do the right thing even when it is difficult. We want to create an organization where courage is recognized and supported.
